How to check your Aadhar Card status?

Before heading on how to Aadhar card check status, we need to understand a few things about UIDAI Aadhar Card.

What is Aadhar Card?

Each country has their own way of maintaining the identity of each resident of their respective country. Aadhaar Number serves that purpose for India.

Aadhaar detail is a 12 digit unique identification number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI Government authority) to the Indian nationalist.

If you are resident of India or non-resident of India, irrespective of age and gender, you can enrol to obtain Aadhar card. For an individual only one and only UID card Aadhaar number is generated.

The uniqueness of Aadhar card check is achieved through the process of demographic and biometric de-duplication.

What are the uses of UIDAI Aadhaar?

UIDAI Aadhar is a single source identity verification system across the country for the residents. You can use the Aadhaar number to verify your identity multiple times across India.

It eliminates the need for providing identity documents each time you wish to access services, benefits and subsidies.

All telecom operators, ISP (internet service provider), Cable or DTH operator accept Aadhaar number to identify you.

All financial institutes, banks and AMCs (Asset Management Company) require Aadhaar number for KYC

How to Check UIDAI’s Aadhaar Card Status Online?

You can check Aadhaar status by two ways

By using Enrolment ID

By using Demographic information

In the first option you have entered the EID which you received after successful registration to UIDAI Aadhar Card no., and the second option is used when you forgot your Aadhar card online registration details.

By using EID (Enrolment ID Number)

Step 1: You need to visit government’s official UIDAI gov website https://uidai.gov.in/

Step 2: Select My Aadhaar option from top navigation bar

Step 3: There are 2 options to Aadhar card check status

Option 1: Click on Check Aadhaar Update Status. It is highlighted in the screenshot below.

Option 2: Scroll to Get Aadhaar section, as highlighted in screenshot. Next you need to click on the Check Aadhaar Status option.

Step 4: You will be redirected to https://resident.uidai.gov.in/check-aadhaar. You will be able to see below screen:

Step 5: Here you would need to enter your EID (Enrolment ID) mentioned on my Aadhar acknowledgement slip. Acknowledgement slip is the document you must have received when you have successfully registered/enrolled for Aadhar card no. Here is attached reference screenshot of Acknowledgement slip.

Step 6: Next you need to do Captcha Verification.

Step 7: Once you enter all correct details in Check Aadhaar Status form, you will be able to see your Aadhaar card status. Sample screenshot is as below:

By using Demographic information

Have you forgotten your Adhar card enrolment ID? Don’t worry if you Forgot or Loss your Enrolment ID. Government has given an option to retrieve EID using your Adhar card by name and registered mobile number or email id. There are few steps to get, listing them here:

Step 1: You need to visit website: https://resident.uidai.gov.in/lost-uideid

Step 2: select Option Enrolment ID (EID) as highlighted below:

Step 3: You need to enter your personal details here like your Full Name and Mobile Number. Mobile number should be the same as enrolled/registered in Aadhaar. It’s important because UIDAI send you OTP notification on registered mobile number only.

Step 4: Click on Send OTP

Step 5: You need to enter OTP to authenticate that request is from a valid user.

Step 6: Bingo!! You will receive your EID on your registered mobile number. Now follow Steps mentioned for “Check Your Aadhaar status”.
